Reining in Excessive Zeal

In zealously representing clients, some lawyers lose sight of their ethical obligations as independent professionals and their duties as officers of the court.  Examples from reported decisions that illustrate what can happen are presented in my recent blog post in the National Jurist's SmartLawyer digital magazine, which can be accessed by clicking on this link.  By exercising self-restraint and reining in excessive zeal, lawyers can preserve their reputation as ethical professionals.
